Our guests often ask us for restaurant recommendations during their stay here at Hawthorn B&B. One of our favorite restaurants in Independence is Salvatore’s Italian Restaurant – located an easy 10 minute derive from our B&B. This wonderful Italian Restaurant has been serving great meals for over 25 years! The restaurant began as “Garozzo’s Due” but when the original owner retired, his son “Sam” became the manager. After several years, Sam and his wife Becky took full ownership and changed the name to Salvatore’s. Since 2003, it’s been known as “Salvatore’s” and the reputation has continued to grow.
Salvatore’s is open Monday-Thursday, 11AM to 9PM; Fridays, 11AM to 10PM; Saturdays, 4PM to 10PM. They are closed on Sundays. The Lunch menu is featured from 11AM to 3PM. The complete Dinner menu is available from 3PM to close.
Salvatore’s offers Daily Specials that are particularly well-liked by the locals! Daily specials include such menu items as Chicken Lemonata, Salsicca Mortina, Beef Spiedini, and Seafood Lasagna. Those menu choices are indeed special recipes and guaranteed to please your palate!
The Lunch menu features a number of Antipasta choices such as stuffed artichokes, calamari fritti, and Italian butter. Lunch Insalata choices range from an esqusite Ceasar salad to a tasty Olive salad. The favorite lunch dishes at Salvatore’s are the delicious chicken Spiedinis. Check out their lunch menu before you make your way to the restaurant.
Our favorite meal at Salvatore’s is dinner. During the evening meal, the creativity of the chef really shines. For an appetizer, try the Mussels Corrado. This dish features New Zealand green shelled mussels dressed in Salvatore’s spicy tomato Diablo sauce. If you’re feeling adventurous, sample the Babalucci’s – snails in butter and garlic sauce sprinkled with Italian flavored bread crumbs.
The “Specialita Della Casa“ is the Tour of Italy. This sampler platter gives you portions of Manicotti, Lasagna, and Cannelloni. It also includes their special Spiedini Chicken breast pieces presented on a bed of Fettuccine and finished with a creamy Alfredo sauce and artichoke hearts. There are also eight Veal dishes to choose from, seven Beef dishes, and four different chicken offerings. Shrimp, prawns, salmon, and tilapia are all included in the Pesce section of the menu. And of course the homemade pasta is fresh and the real thing. Enjoy gnocchi, fettuccine, tortellini, cannelloni, manicotti, ravioli, linguine, rigatoni, or lasagna.
Our innkeeper recommendations at Salvatore’s include fired ravioli as an appetizer, veal Marion with artichokes and chicken spiedinis (with a variety of sauces), as the entrees. And don’t forget dessert – try the tiramisu or Spumoni. Linger over an after-dinner drink with “café Garozzo”. One of the highlights of Salvatore’s is the personal touch and the service provided by the excellent staff.
Reviews of Salvatore’s include phrases such as “Unexpected delight!”, “Consistently delicious!”, and “Would eat here daily…”. These customers have had great experiences at this Independence MO institution. You too can enjoy Salvatore’s during your winter getaway to Hawthorn B&B. Plan your Valentine’s Day getaway. Add some chocolate covered strawberries to make the stay extra special. And make your reservation for dinner too at Salvatore’s Restaurant.
