We are pleased to have completed the construction of our new 2,400 square foot addition to Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast. The expansion includes a huge gourmet kitchen, owner’s two-bedroom apartment and three-car garage. In creating our new living space, we were able to transform what used to be our owner’s quarters into an additional guest suite.
Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast, was created and developed by Fred and Pat Bibler in 2000. In naming each guest room, they used the previous owners’ names to create an ongoing record of those families who were the history and life of the mansion. As it was for us, the Bibler’s living quarters were on the third floor in what was originally the “servant’s quarters.” Following in the tradition started by the Biblers, when we completed redecorating the area we re-named it the “Bibler Suite.”
Using Norman Rockwell illustrations as our inspiration, the Suite décor and ambiance are suggestive of a simpler time in American history. Comfort and convenience are of importance, as well, with a king-sized bed in the bedroom, private bath and the small “kitchenette” with refrigerator, microwave, sink and dining area. The Bibler Suite accommodates up to four overnight guests utilizing a daybed and fold-out futon in the living room. We’re very excited to be able to offer yet another option for our bed and breakfast guests with the Bibler Suite and look forward to sharing all of Hawthorn with you when you come to the Kansas City and Independence, Missouri area.
